Maggie Beer Comp Winner

A while ago I was so lucky to win a competition.
The prize was a weekend away to Adelaide for 2, with Maggie Beer.

I was able to take someone along.
Jackie came a long and what a great week end we had.

Maggie was amazing so friendly and warm.
She made us the most lovely lunch at the Miele showroom kitchen.

Before I left, I rushed to make this scarf for Maggie, as a token of my appreciation for such a generous prize.

She seemed to love it. What ese do you give to someone who can buy what their hearts desire.

>
We were taken by bus to a lovely Farmers Market, a great cheese shop, fantastic Winery, and best of all to Maggies Farm shop.
If you are ever lucky enough to be in the Barossa make sure you drop in.
We have great memories of a very speciel weekend.

Happy Easter

Just popping in, hope a Happy Easter was had by all.
The weather was very kind in Melbourne.

I thought I would share this picture of one of my favourite knit items.

This Tea Cosy is used every weekend for Sunday Bacon and Eggs morning, it keeps the tea so warm that you can come back for a cup later on.

The chair cover was a crochet creation, by me.

Hope you like it.

TASMANIA TRIP.

Just got back from a great week away in Tasmania.

We spent 2 nights in Hobart, enjoyed the Salamanca Market and the surrounding area.
From there we went to Strahan which was lovely. The travel was so hilly which I didn't expect.
From there we travelled along the East Coast to Bicheno, that was a very beautiful town, unfortunately the weather was not kind to us there.

Tasmania is like stepping back in time.
The place seems almost untouched.
The water is every where, the scenery is spectacular.

Home again and back to life.

Hope you all get a chance to pop down there, and enjoy it for yourself.

ANIKA'S RAG QUILT

JUST THOUGHT I WOULD RECORD SOME OF THE THINGS I HAVE MADE BEFORE I STARTED BLOGGING.

THIS IS A RAG QUILT I MADE WHEN MY ELDEST WENT ON HER 1ST CAMP, IT HAS BEEN ON QUITE A FEW SINCE THEN.

IT EARNED A FEW EXTRA POINTS ON A CABIN INSPECTION AND ALSO GOT ONE OF HER TEACHERS TO START QUILTING.

IT WAS THE FIRST BRIGHT COLORED THING I MADE AND THE KIDS LOVE IT.

I THINK IT WAS MADE IN 2002.

I STILL REMEMBER ALL THE CUTTING TO MAKE THE SHAGGY EFFECT, IT GIVES YOU SORE HANDS.

IT WAS MADE FROM FLANNEL AND SOME CHENILLE.

CROCHET & CRUTCHES.

Well it has been longer than I would have liked but two things are keeping me busy.
CROCHET AND CRUTCHES, It is not often you have two people in one family on crutches at one time, but that is what we have and no not in one accident.
Karla, Dayna's cousin had a Knee reconsturction, so it was well worth a photo of my two favourite hop alongs.
We met up for dinner to bust a bit of boardem, I felt like wearing a sign saying no we weren't in a car accident, as we got a lot of funny looks.

So on to CROCHET, this is a baby blanket for a great friend who has had a boy after 2 girls.
I thought the brights and blues would be just the order after two girly girls.
I have set a rule to crochet at least a double stripe a day and so far so good.
I don't normally do much in blue as it is not a favourite, but I am enjoying this and hope they like it.

The pattern is from Lucy at Attic24, she is one of the reasons I fell in love with the craft, blog world. It was such a new source of information and inspiration.

Well I will keep you posted as I progress and leave you with these images, to enjoy.

ABOUT TIME!!

Well I had great intentions of starting this blog at the beginning of 2011. Well some one else had other ideas.
On the 5th of January my 10 year old Dayna decided to jump on her bike as we were packing the last few things for our trip to Rushworth with the boat. She came off and broke her hip.
Very scary as it is in a growth plate area. The doctors decided to pin the Hip with 2 pins which will be removed in 6 weeks if all goes well. In the mean time, we have to do all we can to prevent her from falling, and cousing more damage. So we will be regulars at the hospital, Physio ect. All in all she is doing well.
She was lucky to escape the dreaded plaster which would have been down both legs and up to under her arm pits. Not nice for 3 mths. I think I was pretty lucky also as the care and frustration would have been horrible.
Well we have been forced into a home holiday and my day is full with care and home duties.
I am trying to organise some time to help with the Crochet a Rainbow organized by Sarrah London.

We are getting around well on the crutches and that smile is back.
